What's New* * Safe Deposit Boxes at 1301 9th St * * All of us have items that are important to us and would be difficult or impossible to replace. And, for lack of a better arrangement, we keep them at home where they are subject to being misplaced, stolen, lost in a fire, or otherwise damaged or destroyed. Independence Federal Savings Bank is proud to offer you a more secure alternative – a Safe Deposit Box. Our main office at 1301 9th St NW in Washington has sturdy metal containers in our vault, each with a separate key, which can be rented for storing valuables. They contain small metal boxes in which you can store your valuables. You can access your Safe Deposit Box during our business hours of 9 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday. You do not need to have other IFSB accounts to get the peace of mind of an IFSB Safe Deposit Box. However, if you do have an IFSB checking, savings or loan account, you get a 20% discount! If you have items that are quite valuable to you but are stored in a less secure environment than you would like, an IFSB Safe Deposit Box may be the solution. See or call one of our customer service representatives at 1301 9th St NW in Washington, 202-628-5500. (Neither Independence Federal nor any regulatory agency insures the contents of safe deposit boxes. Consult your insurance agent about available options to insure items stored in your box.)
*** Interest on Business Checking *** As of July 21, 2011, IFSB offers Interest on Business Checking Accounts to any business. Previously interest bearing business checking accounts were only available to non-profits and sole proprietors. Click here for more details.
As of August 3, 2011, "Verified by Visa" (VbV) gives IFSB Visa debit card holders a new layer of security when making online purchases with participating merchants. A list of online merchants who currently participate in VbV is at our Verified by Visa site. Please go to our Verified by Visa site for more detailed information about what it is, what it does, a current list of participating merchants, answers to "Frequently Asked Questions" and a demonstration of VbV. The easiest way to enroll is at IFSB’s Verified by Visa site. For several days after August 2 (until IFSB debit card membership is circulated electronically throughout Visa’s system) this will be the only way to enroll, and you will not see the pop-up to enter your Verified by Visa password while shopping (and some merchants may get IFSB into their system before others). With Verified by Visa, even if your card is stolen or copied, thieves will be unable to use your card for online purchases at participating merchants unless they know your VbV password. Therefore, definitely use a very high degree of caution in protecting it (as well as your PIN number) in order to enjoy the comfort of Verified by Visa security. Do not, for instance, write down this information and keep it with your card. If you have questions that are not answered at Verified by Visa or you need assistance please call us, or ask any of our branch representatives. Thank you.
