Enhanced Security Login mandatory December 6, 2006

IFSB added a security feature on October 17 to help make your online banking experience even safer. It was optional until early December, and became mandatory on December 6, 2006. The follwing Frequently Asked Questions are designed to give you an understanding of what Enhanced Security Login is and how to use it.

Frequently Asked Questions about Online Banking Enhanced Security Login

What is Enhanced Security Login?
Enhanced Security Login is a free and easy way to help verify that it is actually you logging into your Independence Federal on-line account. This new login feature confirms that you are accessing your IFSB on-line accounts via a computer which you previously authorized.

When did Enhanced Security Login take effect?
It became mandatory on December 6, 2006. The option to sign into Enhanced Security Login began on October 17, 2006. A prompt at the login screen asked you to click on an option to add it now, add it later, or not show you the message again. On December 6 it became mandatory.

How does Enhanced Security Login work to better secure my on-line banking?
This feature works by requiring two methods to identify that you are the correct user accessing your on-line accounts. The first method is your user ID and password and the second method is to register the actual computer that you are using for your on-line banking. When you enroll, the computer you are using will simultaneously be registered. Thereafter, you can register additional computers using your Challenge Questions.

What are “Challenge Questions?”
They are three sets of four questions each. You can see this by clicking on the green User Options button or the blue User Options link on our internet banking home page. Then click the blue Challenge Question Setup link. Beside each of the three questions, click the arrow and highlight the one you want (favorite band, movie, etc) and type anything you want in the Answer box. Your answers should be something difficult for others to guess and easy for you to remember.

Are “Challenge Questions” the same as “Forgotten Password Questions”?
Yes. Until October this feature was called “Forgotten Password Questions” and was used when a user forgot their on-line banking password. It still does that, but it also serves other purposes such as registering additional computers for the Enhanced Security Login feature and for one time use of computers that you do not wish to register. Thus, it was renamed to Challenge Questions.

If I have already set-up “Forgotten Password Questions,” do I need to do it again?
No. The questions and answers that you previously chose are still the same. They are just called Challenge Questions now.

What if I forgot my Challenge Question answers?
Please call us at 202-628-5500 or 1-888-922-6537. Our On-line Banking Administrator can re-set your password for you. Then you can go on-line and choose new Challenge Questions and enter your answers.

What if I access my on-line banking accounts from more than one computer?
You can register as many computers as you like into Enhanced Security Login (your home, office, relative’s computer, etc.) so that you can bypass the Challenge Questions upon subsequent logins. You may also answer the challenge questions at the beginning of an online banking session from any computer without registering that computer.

What if I access my on-line banking accounts from a public computer (library, internet café, etc.)?
You may access your on-line banking accounts from public computers for one-time use by answering your Challenge Questions at the beginning of your on-line banking session. You may register any computer in order to bypass the challenge questions on subsequent logins. IFSB does not recommend registering public computers for Enhanced Security Login because so many other people use them.

How does the Enhanced Security Login feature “register” my computer?
The Enhanced Security Login feature stores an encrypted cookie-based credential onto any computer you chose to register.

What happens if this cookie is deleted from my computer?
If you delete this cookie from a computer which you wish to use for your on-line banking accounts, you will be prompted to enter your challenge questions as if it were an unregistered computer. You then will be able to register it again. If you purchase a new computer, it too will need to be registered to obtain the encrypted cookie. And we recommend that you un-register computers that you dispose of.

What if I don’t like cookies?
Some people prefer that no cookies are ever in their computer and have their browser set to prevent it. For the time being they may still use IFSB online banking by answering the Challenge Questions at the beginning of each session.

Where should I go for more information or questions on the Enhanced Security Login feature?
You can always call our Main Office at (202) 628-5500 or 1-888-922-6537, or access our website at www.ifsb.com for any questions and/or concerns. Within internet banking, you may also click User Options and then Enhanced Security Login for additional information.
